I am sure you have all been watching the devastation that Harvey is wreaking on the Houston area. It’s hard to even imagine what people are going through. I hope and pray that we will all let our hearts be moved deeply by the thought of the hundreds of thousands of overwhelmed people who are dealing with this disaster.

As believers and fellow human beings, I am sure you agree with this sentiment:

We must do something.

And here’s what I want to challenge you to do: Obviously, there are some great places that you can give to directly. I would suggest giving directly to World Vision or Samaritan’s Purse. These are both rock-solid organizations that already have boots on the ground, and I can assure you, they will direct your funds to the areas of greatest need.

In addition to a financial gift, would you consider joining The Branch in partnering with New Life Church: Portage Park to help us send some much-needed items down to Houston?

Please see the Needs List below, and bring some items with you to church this Sunday. We will have a red bin labeled “Houston Relief” in the lobby. If you are not going be to here Sunday, you can bring any of the needed items to The Branch office anytime between now and Tuesday afternoon.

Needs List:
Baby food
Baby formula
Disposable Diapers
Medical supplies
Plus-sized clothes
Baby and children’s clothes
Toiletries
Blankets
Towels
Phone charger – iPhone & micro USB

Our goal is to have an outpouring of generosity. It seems like the least we can do to help our friends in the Houston area. This is a great opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a very real way. Let’s continue to pray for and love the people of Houston and all who have been affected by Harvey.
