Season Two at The Branch

As of March 7, the transition and succession process has begun for Alex Wickell to become our next Lead Pastor. On March 28, the partners of our church will have the opportunity to affirm this by voting. At this point, Pastor Alex would join Pastor Robbie as a Lead Pastor at our church. Pastor Robbie will continue to preach and provide oversight, coaching, and pastoral care. Pastor Alex will take a more direct leadership role with preaching and staff. After more than 30 years in pastoral ministry, Robbie plans to step away for a season in his role as a pastor. Robbie will continue to serve God with all of his heart, mind, soul, and strength no matter how God unfolds His next vocational steps for Robbie. He will be officially ending his role on staff here at The Branch on Sunday, June 27.

First and foremost, know that Robbie considers one of the greatest joys and privileges of his life to have been starting a church from scratch with a few good friends and watch God grow something as healthy and strong as The Branch. He absolutely loves our church. He could not be more excited about what God has already done, what he is currently doing, and what he has in store for the future. Robbie could not be prouder of all that God has done in and through this church over the years. And now to confidently leave it in the hands of such strong leadership as Alex and our Elders- it truly doesn’t get much better than this. He is incredibly confident that God has even greater things in store for The Branch as we walk boldly into the future.

While this change is bittersweet for many of us, we are fully confident that Pastor Alex is the leader God has raised up for this next season of our church. We also have an incredible staff team that stands ready to lead us into an even greater future. Alex Wickell has demonstrated tremendous dedication and leadership abilities in serving our church since the very beginning of the Branch, and we have no doubt that he will be a capable, strong and gracious leader as our church continues to grow and flourish. The elders and Robbie truly believe that Alex is the man that God has called to lead the Branch into the next season.

This truly is a bittersweet time for our whole church. We bless the deMarignys and are excited for them as the Lord calls them to this next season. But we love them dearly, so we also feel sadness and loss. As a church, we want to walk through this together and our leadership deeply desires to make itself available to meet, talk, answer questions, pray and process together. Why is Pastor Robbie stepping down? What will he be doing?

God has clearly placed a call to family on Pastor Robbie and Kim’s hearts. They want to travel to Tennessee and Kentucky more regularly to help out Pastor Robbie’s mom and Kim’s dad with various needs. They have been away from them for over 30 years now and God has led them to redeem some quality time with them in their golden years. Additionally, both of their kids have recently married and established themselves in the Nashville area, and want to be as actively involved in their lives as possible in the coming years. Although there are some unanswered questions about what’s next, they are trusting the Lord with the details because He has clearly been leading them in this direction.

What is the timeline for this transition?

What will be changing at The Branch?

Most importantly, our mission and vision will not change! Our singular focus is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus and we are passionate about being a church for the unchurched. As Pastor Alex steps into the role of Lead Pastor, he is extremely committed to leading our church further into these things. While change is always a part of a growing community, there are no significant changes planned at this time.

What are some next steps for me to stay in the loop? What can I do to prepare and stay involved?

We have several channels to stay connected. Make sure you’re on our all-church email. If you’re not, you can sign up here. You can also follow our Facebook page, brchlife. As we have said, 2021 will be a year of relaunching and regathering and this is especially true now. We need each person using their gifts and finding strategic ways to serve so our church can step into the future as God leads.

Will we be celebrating Pastor Robbie?
